Suha was 5 years old. We were driving towards Chennai and she was peeping out of the car windows. A beggar was asking for alms. Suha noticed that he was not wearing slippers. After some serious thinking she said "Amma from now on lets keep our old slippers in the car boot. If we find any poor kids or beggars, we can offer our old slippers".
Just 2 days after this incident, we had some kids who had come asking for food. I was offering food for them, when she promptly pulled me inside and pointed to her old slippers. I suggested that she has to check with the kids to see if they will need it. She did so and gave the slippers to the kids. From then on, she has made it a point to offer her old bags, old slippers and any such useful stuff to the needy.
